I too have taken hundreds of pictures of Devil’s Tower over several years from all around the tower but have never seen a pool of water that would reflect the tower. Very observant and patient. Alpenglow is a reddish glow often seen on the summits of mountains just before sunrise or just after sunset. So, you are correct, this is not alpenglow. It is just regular sunset light, probably about 20-25 minutes or so before sunset, when the light is strong and golden in color.
