The old saying you have to return over and over again, and “patience is a virtue “….is when the stars align you get a wonderful 4 days of vibrant yellows and browns in the land of 22 waterfalls. Of course drought conditions have shorten the amount of time you have this year to shoot.
I made this exposure yesterday. I was trying out a new lens adapter from Fotodiox for a Nikkor lens to the FujiFilm camera mount. I used theNikkor 600mm f5.6 lens mounted on my FujiFilm X-T5 camera body. The affected focal length on the FujiFilm equals 900mm Camera setting 1/500sec @ F/16 -1 stop exposure in manual mode. I had planned BnW from the start.
On my way to a memorial service this lonely tree caught my attention, I earmarked it for the return journey, and this is what I managed to get, love the results.
This was taken in Christchurch NZ after a souwest storm about 11.0am 30th December 2017 F/22. ISO 800. exposure 1/400 approximately 32 photos were taken
I created this sunset landscape portrait Photo from the stands of the Wish Farms Soundstage at the 2023 Strawberry Festival on March 12, 2023 as the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert was just beginning. It was a glorious sunset highlighted by the neon lights just beginning to show in the gathering Darkness.
I like this photo a lot. I am intrigued as to how you got the lighting on the front of the trees when the rising sun should have cast a shadow. This is one of my greatest frustrations with sun rises and sun sets.
Why would the shadow be visible when the sun was rising behind me? I am to the east of the Rockies. If you look closely some of to tufts of grass by the river are light and the angle of the sun is almost a straight line from behind to the west. I am standing on a bridge about 200 feet away so the 300mm lens compresses the space. The shadows appear as lines horizonally which is what gives the photo depth.
I knew the light would be good so drove to Historic Stewart Farm in Surrey, BC & couldn’t believe in eyes. I took my camera out & began shooting. This is my favourite from that evening.
Nature at its best in Watarraka National Park, Northern Territory Australia. These grand sandstone domes stand out in the early winter morning. Captured the image from the Kings Creek.
Love this photo! Great star trails and the couple adds interest and anchors the composition. I went there many years ago to photograph the sunrise. Unforgettable experience!
I found this old abandoned farm while driving through the Tennessee back country. And I really liked the scene as well the sunrise with an excellent sky, with a light fog in the valley.
Taken at Sugar Hill, NH, a White Mountains Range village, during the annual June Lupine Festival. No place in New Hampshire is so richly carpeted in its clefts , valleys, and wild meadows with such sublime and ephemeral a spectacle.
I light painted this vintage farm machine at Deception bay Australia. You have to wait for a moon-less night and wrap a torch in coloured cellophane. Leave the camera shutter open for 30 seconds. In this time, ” paint ” the subject with the light from the torch, as if you were using the torch as a paint brush.
I took this image at Deception Bay Australia. It is 5 images stacked , as I was not able to get the depth of field I wanted in a single image, in the very low light of late afternoon. I set my camera on a tripod and took 5 images at differing focal lengths , and blended the 5 images to get an in focus sharp image all the way up the tree trunk.
Dream :Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is a hike of about 1.1 mile ascending about 400 feet. It’s best shot at sunrise so you need to start very early to arrive in time for sunrise.
I took this shot while on a bus tour in Hawaii while moving on the bus. Shutter 1/640 Sec, Aperture F/5, at 78mm, ISO 200 Shot with Nikon D5 and Nikon 70-300mm lens.

Visited Yellow Stone in June 2018. In June weather is still so unpredictable, a fine and warm beautiful morning can turn into cold, snowy day anytime. the park is so huge 5 days is hardly enough to see all the landmarks. After entering the park you still need to drive for hours at 45 km/h to reach a particular landmark. Landscape in Wyoming is beautiful though.
Sorry to hijack the comments… can you make these galleries so we can click through them? I have to go back and forth, then click to zoom on each one, which is irritating. The pictures are great.
I love running out to the country after a storm. The flat agricultural areas of Illinois yield beautiful views of the setting sun and the passing storm clouds. The sunset really lights up the sky.
We were visiting my sister who lived in Fort Mohave. She took us for a “sightseeing” drive and that’s why I have no idea exactly where this is other than the “Arizona Desert”.
Shot at the Ogeechee canal park very little editing mainly cropping. UseD my Sony alpha 6000 F 11 at 1/350 on automatic focus because my eyes aren’t very good anymore.
Sunset in the foothills of the Strezleki Ranges, Victoria, Australia. I was almost home in Poowong, and simply had to stop and capture the essence of the sun setting over the hills. I love country living and the photo opportunities that come with the area. It’s breathtaking at times and simply grounds you with it’s beauty.
Taken on Feb. 18, 2020 using my Nikon D7500, ISO 200, 18 mm, f/11, 1/400 S. Photo is of the Grand Canyon at Toroweap Overlook in Arizona which is on the North Rim.

Good capture of the texture of the snow on the branches. Looks like a couple of water spots on the lens. You could use Spot Healing Brush or Clone Stamp to get rid of them.
Well done. The clouds on the left and in the center either point to the opera house or radiate from it. The clouds on the right highlight the bridge while counteracting the rightward sweep of the bridge. The center of the wake curves toward the bridge, while the edges of the wake create diverging lines, with one leading to the bridge and the other to the opera house. The back of the boat places the viewer in the scene.
Just starting out. Looking for constructive comments.
