For sunrise shots try to get up early before the sunrise to get that cool lighting before the sun comes up. Once the sun comes up you can use defusing filter to reduce the harsh sunlight.

In 2022 there was an eclipse that was visible in Southern California. I had my camera equipment ready, but the cloud cover threatened to prevent capturing it. Using an app called Astrospheric and the Wearmrher Channel app, I determined that the cloud cover would give way at around 11pm at Joshua Tree National Park. I arrived a little before the event and set up my tripod and Nikon Z7 with a 20mm lens and captured the foreground. I then switched to a 70-200mm lens and took a picture of thehours.
