Lens Flare Photography

Lens flare can be an annoying problem when shooting in sunlight. World renowned photographer, Jim Zuckerman, visits an old cemetery in Weston, Massachusetts for tips on lens flare photography.

“If you include the sun in your composition, you can’t get rid of lens flare,” Jim explains. He composes a wide angle shot of backlighted gravestones, and he crops out the sun. Yet, flare spots still show up. To solve the problem, he uses his hand to shield the lens from the remaining sun rays, eliminating the sun flare.
