Photographing Detail Close up in Landscapes

You’ve heard the expression, “It’s all in the details.” As it relates to photography, the cliche applies well. World renowned photographer, Jim Zuckerman, visits a Massachusetts cemetery and shows you that it’s all in the close-up details.

Jim finds beautifully engraved detail in an 1882 gravestone. He sets his camera up close and parallel to the plane of the engraving. This eliminates distortion, helps to sharply focus, and keeps all the points from the focal center to the subject equidistant. “These tips will work for almost any lens aperture,” Jim explains.
