Hey, what's up guys? Professional Outdoor photographer, David Johnston here. What I have with me is the Fujifilm XT30. Now one of the biggest questions that I get from people who are interested in new cameras is, is this camera capable of outdoor photography. I fully think the Fujifilm XT30 is 100% capable of outdoor photography and I want to go through some reasons for you that that is. Number one, the image quality is the first thing that I always look at. This camera has a 26 megapixel sensor and a very fast internal processor that allows you to churn out high quality images, nonstop. I took tons of photos with this camera while I was out in the field shooting with it, in all sorts of conditions, with all sorts of lens types. And what I found was that the 26 megapixel sensor, all though it may seem smaller than other sensors, produces very sharp images. Now we can zoom in on the images that I took and see how fine the details actually are. Also, one of the other things I look at with cameras is the speed and the auto focusing of the cameras themselves. Especially for wild life photography, which goes into the outdoor photography category. Now wild life requires very high, fast frame rates. As well as very fast auto focusing. This camera has amazing auto focusing, tracking all the way across the frame, which allows you to track your objects throughout the entire frame and sensor. The auto focus tracking is extremely fast on this with tons of auto focus points to allow tack sharp images. Also this camera shoots at extremely high frame rates. Typically I was shooting at around 9 to 10 frames per second, which allowed me to capture some incredible images of wild life out while I was camping. The Fujifilm XT30 never let me down when I was in a pinch of speed and auto focus tracking. It always held its ground and produced amazing images in that category. Now one of the other things that I wanted to test was color accuracy because we want the exact proper colors that we saw in the field when we were capturing our outdoor photography. I did this using night photography in the outer banks of North Carolina, shooting Milky ways over some lighthouses. The color quality was outstanding based on the white balances and settings I was using on the Fujifilm XT30. Not only that, but I was able to connect this camera to my smartphone and using my smartphone as the remote shutter for this camera, so that I wouldn't cause camera shake. So I could take long exposures and have full access to every setting on this camera based on what I wanted to change through my smartphone. Now a couple of the features that I found extremely useful while I was shooting with this camera in the field were number one, the dials on top. This has several dials that you can use to access your settings immediately. Number one, you can easily switch through your manual settings using the shutter dial, using the two dials on the front and bach, and then even using the exposure compensation dial on one side, meaning that you can dial in your settings to get the exact light that you want, so that you can quickly change your settings to get ever changing lighting situations. And not only that, it lightened my camera bag with its smaller compact size. But did not compensate on image quality due to the size. That's exactly what I want if I'm going out hiking, long distances. I want a smaller camera that's going to match up to those very high end cameras that are on the market. So back to the initial question. Is the Fujifilm XT30 capable of outdoor photography? I 100% believe that the Fujifilm XT30 is not only going to stay in my bag for outdoor photography, but is most likely going to become my primary camera that I shoot with in outdoor photography. So yes, this camera, the Fujifilm XT30 is capable of impressive high quality outdoor photography, in a small light weight package.
