Mule deer live on the high mesa of Wyoming’s Wind River Basin. In this video, professional photographer Doug Gardner takes you there to capture these elusive animals.

Doug and photographer Jared Lloyd follow a well-used game trail and locate a herd of mule deer. You will learn about their behavior patterns and how to calibrate your camera settings accordingly. To adjust for changing light and colors, Jared suggests using Kelvin white balance because the shade tends to tint the snow blue. You will also learn about auto focus versus manual focus and which might work best for you.

Join nature photographers Doug Gardner and Jared Lloyd for wildlife photography tips to help you photograph the meandering mule deer.
