It takes patience and talent to photograph an elk herd in its natural surroundings. In this video, wildlife photographer Doug Gardner takes you to the spectacular Rocky Mountain National Park for more encounters with the Colorado elk.

Doug tracks the bugle call of a bull elk on the mountain valley floor. The bull is constantly moving to keep his herd together. With a 600 mm lens, Doug captures stunning portraits of the bull and his harem of cows during rutting season.
