Photographing Colorado Elk
How do you go about photographing the majestic Colorado elk? In this video, wildlife photographer Doug Gardner shows you how to photograph wildlife in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
You will learn how to approach the elk herd quietly, maintaining distance. The goal is to locate a bull with a huge rack, carefully focus, then make rapid exposures at a high shutter speed. Since the elk is often shrouded in overgrowth, Doug isolates the subject with telephoto lenses and a high f-stop. He explains, “The idea is to make the elk stand out from the surroundings.”
Join your wildlife photography guide Doug Gardner on a mountain adventure for plenty of wildlife photography tips on capturing Colorado elk.
