Have you tried Lightroom’s awesome color mixer tool? In this premium video, Outdoor Photography Guide’s David Johnston shows you ways to use the color mixer to add colorful drama.

He brings up an image of a waterfalls in Smoky Mountains National Park. The surrounding trees are drenched with spectacular autumn colors. Using the eyedropper from the color mixer, David selects the yellow of the leaves. This allows him to isolate only the yellows and leave the rest of the image in grays. With the sliders, he adjusts the hue, saturation, and range to create glowing yellow.

He next focuses on only the reds and emulates the changes from the yellows editing sequence. Gradually, the reds begin to glow. Finally, he creates a mask to isolate a distant area and employs the brush tool for color adjustments to soften the background fog.
