The manatee is an endangered aquatic animal that has long held the fascination of adults and children alike. This session focuses on why manatees make such a great photography subject. You will go on location at the Bird’s Underwater Dive Center in Crystal River, Florida, while owner Diane Ostreich offers some information on manatees as well as tips on interacting with them.

Despite their large size, manatees are friendly, playful, and curious by nature. The manatees at the center seem to enjoy the humans who dive there to interact with them—and they don’t disappoint. As with any animal, though, there are some precautions and things you should and should not do while swimming with the manatees and photographing them.
