The coast of Alaska is where two professional photographers take you to shoot a herd of walruses in their natural habitat. You will learn to work with the light and weather conditions available the day you are there and adjust your camera accordingly.

Professional photographer Doug Gardner and his pilot and guide, Glen Alsworth, Jr., who is also a photographer, fly out to the coast of Alaska to where herds of walruses sun themselves on the beach. You will see how they photograph the herd of about 200 huge mammals that weigh between 2,000 and 3,000 pounds each. Doug and Glen give you tips on how to work with the weather conditions and light that nature gives you on the day you are there, and they tell you how to tweak your camera settings accordingly. They advise you on capturing the natural behavior of the animals and to have your camera ready at all times so you can catch active behavior that can happen quickly without warning. You are given technical and creative instruction while you receive a nature lesson and learn much about walruses.
