Photographing in the Early Morning at Cades Cove
Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains is home to the splendid white-tailed deer and the canny coyote. In this video, professional wildlife photographers Doug Gardner and Bill Lea photograph these magnificent deer in the foggy light of early morning. When you photograph wildlife in hazy morning light, the idea is to keep the composition simple, letting the light provide the visual drama. Fog can also provide distant silhouettes. Doug captures a coyote prowling the grasslands. Bill captures a portrait of a buck grazing in the tall prairie grass. Cades Cove is a photographer’s dream for capturing deer and coyotes, especially in the magic of early morning light.
